Thank you Bob. I'm glad you liked it. The tour was more about the forum in general (the "follow" feature, the structure of the forum etc.) Doing Anchor specific presentation might be more about the strategy itself. I will ask Chris if he can find some time to do it.

No, you need to calculate it.

The price of the spread is always based on the individual leg prices. This is the correct way to do it.

I'm surprised as well. They are surprised that calendars perform well in low IV environment?? They are surprised that SPY calendars make money when VIX goes up and lose money when VIX goes down?? They are surprised that in range bound market calendars perform better than ATM debit spreads?? Actually, after seeing their studies about pre earnings straddles, I probably shouldn't be surprised.

This week we closed our June trades with gains of 10.1% on margin, and 7.9% return on 20k unit. This makes the year to date non-compounded return 31.6% on a whole account (including commissions). If we reported returns like most other services do (Compounded ROI before commissions), we would report 48.9% gain. As you noticed, we closed our June trades three weeks before expiration, to reduce the negative gamma risk. We recommend reading the Why You Should Not Ignore Negative Gamma article to understand the gamma risk. This is another thing we do differently from many other services. We open our trades early and close them early. We would typically open the trades 6-8 weeks before expiration and close them 2-3 weeks before expiration. Click here to view the article

Options are similar to other financial security tools just like bonds, stocks, mutual funds, which can be purchased and sold at one’s convenience. Since these are less expensive than others, options have spread their roots across the market. These are ideal for short-term, as well as, long-term and are hence more profitable for users. Since individual investors have wider education resources, and multiple strategies can be implemented with options trading, these can be trusted for long-term use. Some of the elements of successful trading include controlling risk, technical analysis, buy and sell indicators, and patterns. However, investors must bear certain steps in mind while spotting out potential trade including keeping a watch over the moving average, understanding overall patterns, and comprehending market trends. All these short-term trading ideas and tricks are required to ensure success. Click here to view the article

I'm working with Andy from ONE to arrange a webinar for SO members.

I'm entering trades manually. But there is an option to import trades from the broker statement (I never used it).

You need to remember that most of the IV collapse is in the first couple hours after earnings. As a general comment, for short term trades, the theta and the gamma are much more important than the vega. As Yowster mentioned, those are completely different trades. The diagonal gives you some caution even if you are wrong. The debit spread doesn't. The diagonal will make money if the stock is unchanged. The debit will NOT. In fact, it NEEDS the stock to go down.

Okay, so that means that someone submitted it on Friday afternoon, maybe when the stock was slightly above 212.50. And it was assigned because the stock traded slightly above 212.50 in AH. I always recommend to close those options before the market close on Friday not to take assignment risk. Personally, I would close them much earlier than that, to avoid gamma risk.
-
I must say this is very strange to be assigned option which is OTM. When did you get the assignment notice? Was it on Friday morning or Friday after the close (basically Saturday)?
-
Interesting setup. But if the stock rebounds to 97-99, your loss will be over 50%.

Just opened an official topic. Will be looking to start half position tomorrow.

Yes, I noticed that too. I believe it was the same last time - puts were also much more expensive that the calls.

Thank you very much. One of the members wrote to me that "we just want to keep you to ourselves". Of course he was joking, but as we know, there's a grain of truth in every joke. I cannot find another reason why so few people posted a review so far, while some penny stock trading rooms have dozens of reviews every month. (well, many of them give away free memberships to members who post reviews, which of course I will never do) But many people miss the point: those reviews can benefit all of us. More members mean better trading community. More trading ideas. More people helping with backtesting. More brainstorming. And members who come from Investimonials are usually very advanced, serious and experienced.

Thank you Bret! I hope more members will express their appreciation by posting a review on Investimonials (I know you reviewed and re-reviewed, much appreciated!)

In one of my previous articles I described how we are going to play the current earnings season. I shared our plans to trade some of our favorite names (NFLX, GOOG, FFIV, CMG, FB, AMZN, MSFT, LNKD, TSLA and more). I expected this period to be good for SteadyOptions members. I was wrong. This earnings season was not good. It was outstanding! We closed CMG and AMZN trades for 20% gain, GOOG for 37% gain, TSLA for 34% gain, MSFT for 13% gain, among others. We also booked 22% gain in VIX calendar, 13% in RUT calendar and 17% in SPY/TLT combo. We closed 15 trades in April, 13 winners and only 2 losers, for an overall ROI of 30.0%! Our ROI in 2015 is an amazing 85.5%, in just 4 months. Click here to view the article

Broker is very important. Based on members feedback and my own experience, IB has one of the best if not THE best executions. I recommend reading Brokers and Commissions discussion if you haven't done it yet. How close to the mid you get filled really depends on the stock. Some stocks you can get within 1-2 cents from the mid, others are harder. Also remember that 1 cent slippage on $1 options is not the same as 1 cent slippage on $2 option. "playing" with orders helps many times (pausing the order and resubmitting, changing by 1-2 cents etc. It's a process that takes time to master, and over time you will get better on it.
