Dewormer Treatments (Freshwater vs. Saltwater)
🔹 Common Worm Infections
- 🪱 Tapeworms – Fish losing weight despite eating.
- 🪱 Gill & Skin Flukes – Scratching, heavy breathing, excess mucus.
- 🪱 Camallanus Worms – Red worms protruding from the anus.
🔹 Freshwater Treatment
- ✅ Praziquantel (PraziPro) – Best for flukes & tapeworms.
- ✅ Levamisole – Best for roundworms & Camallanus.
- ✅ Fenbendazole / Flubendazole – Stops (does not remove) internal parasite growth.
🔹 Saltwater Treatment
- ✅ Praziquantel (PraziPro) – Works in both fresh & saltwater.
- ✅ Fenbendazole – Safe in some reef tanks; use cautiously.
- ✅ Freshwater Dips – Helps remove flukes and skin parasites.
⚠️ Saltwater Note
Dewormers can affect reef invertebrates. Dose carefully and use a quarantine tank when possible.
