Antifungal Treatments (Freshwater vs. Saltwater)
🔹 Common Fungal Infections
- 🍄 Saprolegnia (Cotton Wool Fungus) – White, fluffy patches.
- 🍄 Egg Fungus – Affects unhatched fish eggs.
- 🍄 Mouth Fungus – Often bacterial, but can be fungal.
🔹 Freshwater Treatment
- ✅ Methylene Blue – Egg-safe; treats mild fungal infections (skin, gills, fins, internal).
- ✅ Malachite Green – Antifungal and antiparasitic; treats Ich + fungal issues.
- ✅ PolyGuard (Sulfathiazole / Malachite Green) – Broad-spectrum antimicrobial.
- ✅ Pimafix – Herbal antifungal for mild cases only.
- ✅ Fende – Stops fungus and certain parasite infections in invertebrates.
🔹 Saltwater Treatment
- ✅ Iodine Dip – Effective for external fungal infections.
- ✅ Povidone-Iodine – Can be applied directly to affected areas.
- ✅ Malachite Green (Reef-Safe Variants) – Use with caution in marine tanks.
