Antifungal Treatments (Freshwater vs. Saltwater)
🔹 Common Fungal Infections
  • 🍄 Saprolegnia (Cotton Wool Fungus) – White, fluffy patches.
  • 🍄 Egg Fungus – Affects unhatched fish eggs.
  • 🍄 Mouth Fungus – Often bacterial, but can be fungal.
🔹 Freshwater Treatment
  • Methylene Blue – Egg-safe; treats mild fungal infections (skin, gills, fins, internal).
  • Malachite Green – Antifungal and antiparasitic; treats Ich + fungal issues.
  • PolyGuard (Sulfathiazole / Malachite Green) – Broad-spectrum antimicrobial.
  • Pimafix – Herbal antifungal for mild cases only.
  • Fende – Stops fungus and certain parasite infections in invertebrates.
🔹 Saltwater Treatment
  • Iodine Dip – Effective for external fungal infections.
  • Povidone-Iodine – Can be applied directly to affected areas.
  • Malachite Green (Reef-Safe Variants) – Use with caution in marine tanks.
⚠️ Saltwater Note
Many antifungals are not reef-safe. Always verify compatibility before dosing in display tanks.
