Guest Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Folks- I am having some issues entering in the SO orders with my new IRA accounts I just transferred over to Interactive Brokers. Many times when I try to enter the short position (usually selling a call or put), the order line on the option chain will be red and I get the error message "cannot enter short order order for this type of account. Unfortunately, the IB support folks haven't been much help at all. I have had some go through so I think the issue may be that I need to enter the line orders in a certain order? Just wondering if anyone has some suggestions for me on this? Quote
Guest Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 My IRA accounts were set up as "cash" accounts. Once we changed them over to "margin" accounts, all good. I hope this helps the next person. Quote
